An organization that funds families in custody, dependency, guardianship, reunification, and adoption matters has to be precise about what it is not. This page is that precision.

The Foundation does

  • Provide philanthropic financial supportDirected to a specific, verified cost inside an established plan.
  • Collaborate with qualified professionalsAlongside the attorneys, social workers, and caseworkers already involved.
  • Verify need and documentationIdentity, court and agency records, financial need, and proposed use of funds.
  • Review with the child at the centerEvery decision begins with the safety and long-term well-being of the child.
  • Apply documented financial controlsIndependent approval, and funds generally paid to the provider.

The Foundation does not

  • practice law or provide legal adviceInstead: may help fund qualified professional services
  • direct or influence litigationInstead: supports plans that professionals have already established
  • determine custody or placementInstead: begins with decisions others have already made
  • make judicial decisions or appear before a courtInstead: has no role in, and no influence over, any proceeding
  • manage child-welfare casesInstead: works alongside the people who do
  • replace social workers or caseworkersInstead: consults them where appropriate
  • guarantee assistance to everyone who asksInstead: reviews each request against its charitable purpose and the resources available
  • guarantee any particular outcomeInstead: supports a process, never a result
  • decide whether a child should be reunified or adoptedInstead: supports the direction qualified professionals have identified
  • accept confidential case material through this websiteInstead: will publish a secure process once one is established
  • operate as an emergency-relief or general hardship fundInstead: funds specific, verified barriers in active permanency matters
